Lets begin from the beginning

Hello.

The goal of this blog post is to have a conversation, the dynamics of which are a bit asymmetrical given that there is no reply from the other end, yet.

This specific post exists as a template for what is about to follow. We, yes we, the part of the whole and the whole of the part have this utmost responsibility and drive to keep going forward for wherever this journey takes us. We have identities. We have principles. We have ethics, at least some of us claim that we do, not me, but some of us do. We have goals. We have ideas. And we are ideas.

We are optimizing for a future that we don’t know what it looks like.

When I think, I often like to think in fundamental terms. Fundamentals of Fundamentals. The idea of an idea. An idea is too simple a thing. It is the idea that I have an idea that truly baffles me. As you can see, this thought is purely recursive with no base condition, like a thermal runway, like a completely uncontrolled fusion and yet it exists in our heads, stable, calm, united, and absolutely under control.

Are we a base condition?

We are figuring out the rules of the system that we inhabit while still maintaining that free will is our birth right, without having an iota of proof for it in the first place.

What exactly does free will even mean? I mean, you cannot be allowed to hurt somebody without consequences, right? Or we will have to give up the social structure that we inhabit. But don’t criminals have a social structure as well? Or is it the god argument? We pray to the gods so that we can be one, one day. Isn’t that true free will? And anything less than it is pure heresy, unacceptable.

When I say fundamental of fundamentals, I mean truly, truly fundamental. This is a space where the bases breakdown. There is no structure. There is no order. There are no rules. It is not even chaos, for it can be put into a noun. Nouns don’t exist in this space. It is again a thought space of those swirling rushes of blood in our skulls that makes us, us, apart from our stalking habits on instagram.

Few things that I have on my mind

  • The idea of an idea
  • Where does sound exist in spacetime?
  • What is the difference between a thought and a memory?
  • What is the true difference between a processor and memory? Isn’t everything a process? Or is everything a memory, depending on your vantage point? Again, the vantage point is a subjective choice.
  • What exactly is truth?

We are a set of atoms, asking how the first quanta came into existence. Doesn’t it sound a lot like a child arguing with their parent as he/she grows up? It has taken us only 13B years to start to argue.

I do plan to keep this post short, so getting to the point.

I am going to have a few things put up that I have had on my mind for a while. This space is mostly going to be about maths, programming, language, history, and philosophy.

The strange thing about this setup is that it is a set of atoms trying to write to a set of atoms who, in turn, are trying to understand a set of atoms, which in turn is transforming into another set of atoms. Or whatever abstraction level you find manageable.

Ultimately, it is a choice.

  • I am still setting the site up, so it may take a while for it to smoothen out, and no, I am not taking any suggestions.
